The full list
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Worthing and work the coastal strip from Chichester to Brighton — including Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham-by-Sea — plus the villages inland of the A27. Longer-distance moves out of Sussex are quoted case by case.
How do your quotes work?
Every job gets a fixed written quote before we start — from a video survey, photos, or an in-person look, depending on the job's size. The quote itemises what's included, and the price doesn't change unless the job does.
Are you insured?
Yes. Coast Is Clear is operated by CSQS Ltd, an established Worthing company, and insurance documentation is available with every quote.
What happens to items you clear?
Reuse first: sound furniture and household goods go to local charity and reuse organisations. The remainder is sorted and disposed of at licensed local facilities, and we can confirm that in writing for solicitors, agents or landlords.
Do you work weekends?
Yes — Saturdays are normal working days, and evening or Sunday work can be arranged for commercial jobs and time-critical clearances.
How do I pay?
Bank transfer or card, on completion, once you've checked the job. Larger bookings take a small deposit to hold the date; it's stated plainly on the quote.
How far ahead should I book a removal in Worthing?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most moves; end-of-month Fridays go first. If completion dates move, we hold your provisional date free of charge while solicitors sort themselves out — it happens on most chains and we plan for it.
Do you do packing as well?
Yes — full packing (we bring materials and pack everything the day before) or part packing for kitchens and breakables only. Either is itemised separately on the quote so you can decide with real numbers.
Can you move a piano, or one very heavy item?
Usually, yes. Uprights and most furniture are routine with the right crew size; anything unusual, tell us at survey and we'll quote it properly or tell you honestly that it needs a specialist.
Do you cover moves outside the local area?
Local means roughly Chichester to Brighton. We also run longer-distance moves out of Sussex by arrangement — most weeks we're somewhere on the M23 or A3 with a full load.
What happens if something gets damaged?
Tell us straight away and we put it right. We're insured — documentation comes with every quote — but the honest answer is that careful loading, blankets and straps on every job is what keeps claims near zero.
How does a house clearance quote work?
We look (in person or by video), you tell us what's staying, and we give a fixed written price for everything else — labour, loading and disposal included. Valuable items we find can be offset against the price and that's shown on the quote, not agreed in a doorway.
Can you handle a probate clearance before the house is sold?
Yes — it's a large part of what we do. We work to the solicitor's timescale, set aside documents and personal effects for the executor, and provide written confirmation of clearance for the file.
What happens to everything you take away?
Reuse first: furniture and household goods with life in them go to local charity and reuse organisations. The remainder is sorted and taken to licensed local facilities — not fly-tipped, which is why a paper trail matters when you choose a clearance firm.
Do I need to be there on the day?
No. Many clearances are done with keys from an agent or solicitor. We confirm the brief in writing beforehand and send photos when the property is cleared.
How quickly can you clear a house in Worthing?
Part clearances can usually be done within a few days; a full house is typically booked within one to two weeks. Tell us if there's a completion date — end-of-tenancy and sale deadlines are normal for us.
Can you quote from photos?
Usually, yes — three or four photos and rough dimensions are enough for most gardens. If it's a jungle, we'll come and look; the quote stays fixed either way.
Do you take soil and rubble?
In moderate amounts, yes — priced by the load. Large volumes of hardcore need a grab lorry, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the cheaper route.
Is the green waste composted?
Yes — green waste goes for composting or processing, not to landfill. Metal and sound timber are recycled or reused where possible.
Do you cut trees down?
We clear shrubs, brambles and small self-set trees. Anything of size, near buildings, or with a preservation order needs a qualified tree surgeon — we'll say so rather than have a go.
Can you collect something I've bought online?
Yes — send the listing and the collection postcode and we'll give you a fixed price. We check the item matches the listing before loading and send you a photo at pickup.
Is it cheaper if I help carry?
If it's genuinely a two-person item and you're able, yes — one mover plus you is our cheapest rate. Be realistic though: stairs and sofas end friendships.
How soon can you do a small job?
Usually within the week; often same-day for single items if you call before mid-morning. Weekends book up first.
Can you move us outside trading hours?
Yes — most office moves run Friday evening into the weekend so the business opens as normal on Monday. Evening clearances are routine.
What about old computers and screens?
Electrical equipment is separated and disposed of through WEEE-aware routes rather than general waste. Tell us if you need asset lists or certificates and we'll arrange the right route.
Do you deal with landlords and agents directly?
Constantly. We can work from an agent's inventory, return keys to the office, and provide written confirmation the unit was left clear.
